When I was a little girl, I would make my Dad drop me off at the library on the weekends. There was something amazing to me about being in the company of books. Each row connected and it felt like they were built as a shelter just for me. There were also so many days in Boarding School of hiding under my covers with a flashlight after lights out. Tucked in the corner of my blanket was always a book I couldn’t bear to put down. From the words of Enid Blyton back then to Rob Ryan, Maya Angelou, Pablo Neruda, Patti Smith, Paulo Coelho, Eckhart Tolle and Nisargadatta Maharaj these days, I have been haunted, comforted, inspired and brought back to life many times over by so many amazing books. After all these years, I still feel safe in the shelter they’ve built–just for me. // #fallreading #books #booksaremyhappyplace #booklovers #bookstagram #insomniaccity #wildlyintothedark #consolations #justkids #chasersofthelight #weekendreading
