2015 Met Gala: Who was on trend and on point on fashion’s biggest night?

Rihanna goes for detail and volume in a yellow gown by Chinese couture designer Guo Pei.
Fashion’s biggest night arrived to much fanfare again this evening. Stars from the music, fashion, television and movie realms fetted New York’s famous Metropolitan Museum of Art. The theme for this year? “China: Through the Looking Glass.” Every year, many stars adhere to the rules while others eschew them completely. This year was no different. Our thoughts on the topic are “why show up to a costume party dressed as yourself?” It’s no fun at all!
It’s all in the details. Rihanna was on point and on trend.
That being said, we’re focusing on the most interesting, intriguing and fun looks from tonight’s gala. These gals not only came to have fun but they were right on trend. Here are their interesting takes on how Chinese aesthetics have influenced western fashion.
Amal Clooney in a red custom Maison Margiela Artisanal by John Galliano corset top and tiered skirt.
Sarah Jessica Parker stole the show again this year in another elaborate Philip Treacy hat.
Zendaya in a short and fun Fausto Puglisi number, complete with detailed train.
Solange Knowles in Giles Deacon.
Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen also played with volume and texture in their Galliano looks. We even love Ashley’s half up top knot.
Lizzy Caplan in a one-shouldered Donna Karan Atelier gown.
Lady Gaga is used to elaborate pieces of couture. The singer looked relatively tame in this black and white look.
Kerry Washington let her skirt do the talking in this pink Prada number.
Kate Mara looked elegant in this white dress with a high collar, plunging neckline and floral embellished skirt.
Kate Hudson was golden in Michael Kors.
Karolina Kurkova in Tommy Hilfiger.
Karen Elson was deserving of her crown in Dolce and Gabbana.
Jessica Hart stunned in a high neck Valentino gown.
Is she the new Mother of Dragons? (GOT fans understand). Jennifer Lopez left little to the imagination in a Versace dress with a dragon embellishment.
Georgia May Jagger looked lovely in an embellished Gucci robe.
Bee Shaffer (Anna Wintour’s daughter) stunned in gorgeous Alexander McQueen.
Anne Hathaway took a risk that paid off in custom gold Ralph Lauren with a hood.
